Pop music as great art gets no better than the Australian Sia in 2016, whether writing for the biggest stars in the world today (a big hit with Rihanna, the terrific “Diamond”, to name but one), or for herself, she is always graceful, powerful, and smart. But she suffers from mammoth shyness, and apparently sings in a mask to the side of the stage, while dancers perform to her songs. I guess I’ll find out on Tuesday where at Barclay Center, where two terrific acts, Miguel and Alunageorge, are opening.

Tuesday- Foreigner: The Hits Unplugged – Carnegie Hall – Yes, folks, like hookers and the Stones, when you hang around long enough you become respectable. So pay your respects to “I Wanna Know What Love Is”

Tuesday – Saturday – Steely Dan – Beacon Theatre –  October madness continues

Residency – Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on Broadway! – I’ve seen them twice over the past ten years or so, and am considering one last viewing despite not being impressed with the pre-Beatles  on stage.

Thursday – Thursdays At Flash Factory W/ A$ap Rocky & Tory Lanez – BB Kings – A$AP Rocky is our best New York rapper in 2016, and always delivers on stage. BB Kings is an awful small venue for him…

Friday – Billy Joel – Madison Square Garden – They haven’t announced any 2017 dates yet, so if you haven’t made your pilgrimage, now is the time.

Friday – The Dickies Performing the Incredible Shrinking Dickies & Hits – Bowery Electric – It says “and” hits, so maybe we will get the Banana Splits theme!

Saturday – THE DAMNED PERFORMING A UNIQUE 40TH ANNIVERSARY RETROSPECTIVE – Gramercy Theatre – They’ve got an old rose, they’ve got it good.

Sunday – Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever The F@%k He Wants – Beacon Theatre – But mostly daddy’s old stuff (copyright reserved)
