Live Through This: rock nyc Top Concert Picks 1-8-18 – 1-14-18

The Spanish jazz Flamenco jazz singer Buica is a must see whenever she deems to visit us and visit us she shall, Buika will be at the Town Hall on Friday where she can add her English language newer songs to her Spanish language faves. Insist upon “Stand By Me” (not that one!)

Monday, Tuesday – Peter Yarrow – City Vineyard – Mary is gone and who knows where Paul is, so check out the remaining pop folk giant.

Tuesday – Denny Laine of The Moody Blues & Wings – BB Kings – The “Go Now” singer and former Wing Man circa Band On The Run. Why shouldn’t he make a living from it?

Tuesday –  BILLY SQUIER & G.E. SMITH – City Winery – It’s like going to see the All Starrs without Ringo.

Wednesday –  Rick Sheppard’s Drifters w/ Marvelettes Revue & June Monteiro’s Toys – BB Kings – This could well be the poster of  is it the same band when only one member remains. There are two Drifters drifting, so why not catch one? Though what I really want to see is the disco Drifters from the 70s.

Wednesday – The Wombats –  Brooklyn Steel – The dancing to Joy Division lads.

Friday –  Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds in Concert – One of the top R&b pop people of the 80s, always worth hearing him mine his career for one glorious nugget after another.

Friday – The Killers – Madison Square Garden  The worst big band in the world right now but even so, they might put on a fun show…

Friday – PATTY SMYTH & SCANDAL – 80s pop rock superstar.

Saturday – Jim Messina – Iridium – The king of soft rock is 70…

Sunday – Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven – Highline Ballroom – Welcome to the 90s.
