Live Through This: rock nyc Concert Picks 5-15-17 – 5-21-17

Future is a big time rock star type crown prince of Atlanta, a sleek mean, fucking two damn bitches at the same time machine. On record he has been awesome the last coupla years, a dream of a star: you can hear him on “Bugati,” on the ridiculously fine “Fuck Up Some Commas”. Hell, with Weezy on “Bitches Love Me”. On stage, I’ve seen him twice, one opening (er, middling) with Drake and once at some radio gig. he was terrible both times… but that was last year. Let’s see what he can do at Barclay’s center on Friday night. he has the material to kill it. Migos are opening, Quavo has had such a busy year I wonder how he’ll find the time.

Monday, Tuesday  – Matthew Sweet – City Vineyard – The man can play guitar and the new single is a keeper, though not up to his 90s stuff.

Tuesday – Red Bull Music Academy Presents Piano Nights: Gucci Mane and Zaytoven – TBA – I am gagging to see this guy, one of the top rap performers in the business: you have Kanye, Jay Z, Drake, Kendrick, and Gucci on the frontline of rap.

Wednesday – Drake – Terminal 5 – A private party for Adult Swim’s upfront.  A friend of mine is a muckety muck at Adult Swim and he can’t seem to get me in!

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – Ty Segall – Warsaw – I don’t much like him on record, but live the man is a powerhouse.

Friday – Too Naughty Party Ft. Migos – Stage 48 – After the Future gig, no doubt…assume they will be both Boujee and bad.

Friday, Saturday – The xx – I’m not crazy about the new album but the two times I saw em they were excellent, plus in daylight they can’t hide in the shadows.
