Listen To Beth Ditto’s New Single ‘Fire’

Beth Ditto

I don’t understand why Beth Ditto is not a superstar here in the US, she has an amazing voice that moans and groans before bursting into a powerful howl à la Etta James, and she has a fascinating personality.

Born in poverty in rural America, she is a true punk who raised to popularity when she became the frontgirl of the indie band Gossip in the early 00s, she also managed to collaborate with Jarvis Cocker, Paul Weller and Blondie and while Gossip released their last album, ‘A Joyful Noise’, in 2012. After a long absence from the music scene, during which she wrote her autobiography ‘Coal to Diamonds’, married her girlfriend and got busy with her clothing line), Beth Ditto is back with a debut solo album ‘Fake Sugar’, which was produced by Jennifer Decilveo and set be released on June 16th.

‘Fire’, the new single from the upcoming album, is a throbbing club party dominated by Beth’s sensual, powerful and commanding vocals, and when you hear her howl screaming ‘fire’ you really have a burning experience over abrasive guitars and a dance punk groove

Beth may not be finding the recognition she should deserve in her native country, but Europe has really embraced her as ‘Fire’ was declared Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1! So listen to Fire (which is available as an instant download on all album pre-order) and go see this self proclaimed ‘fat, feminist lesbian from Arkansas’ this fall, as she will probably tour to promote her new album.
