At this year’s Z100 Jingle Ball, MSG Friday? This year we get The Weeknd, Calvin Harris, Selena Gomez, 5 Seconds of Summer, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Fifth Harmony, Zedd, Shawn Mendes, Fetty Wap (so they finally added a rapper, eh?), Tove Lo, Charlie Puth, Hailee Steinfeld, R. City, Conrad Sewell, and DNCE. Impressed? I will be if we get a Jonas Brothers reunion and since both Nick and Joe (with DNCE) are there, not entirely out of the question.
Mon, Tues, Weds – Dinosaur Jr – Bowery Ballroom – Still enjoying their residence to sold out crowds.
Tues, Weds, Fri, Sat – Mariah Carey – Beacon – Her Christmas residency kicks in.
Tues, Weds – Peter Asher & Albert Lee – The last time I saw Peter, at Cafe Carlyle, I was beyond impressed. As you would be to see the multi-faceted icon. How iconic? He was Paul McCartney’s roomie at the height of Beatlemania.I could tell you a lot about the finger picking guitarist Lee but here is one tit bit: he played with the Everly Brothers for 20 years.
Wednesday – The Get Up Kids – Irving Plaza – My favorite emo band, back in the day. Terrific live as well.
Wednesday – Vince Staples – MHOW – I saw Vince opening for A$AP Rocky earlier this year and was very disappointed. But he still recorded one of the best hip hop albums of 2015, and perhaps a longer set will give him the chance to really perform his songs.
Thursday – The Aimee Mann & Ted Leo Christmas Show – I know what you’re thinking but Liz Phair is performing as well.
Saturday – Blood Orange & Friends – Neo outro soul flames. 3pm and 8pm
Saturday – Silverstein / Senses Fail W/ Hundredth, Capsize – Webster Hall – Classic post-hardcore line up.
Saturday – A-Trak – Terminal 5 – DJ, Producer, and owner of Fool’s Gold Record, he was terrific last time I saw him here.
Saturday – Monica -Gramercy Theatre – Brandy’s buddy has a very good new single out.
