Kitten Comes Up With All Kinds Of Ideas To Finance Their Second Album Independently

If you have seen Kitten live, you know that Chloe Chaidez is a ball of fire, you know that she can electrify any place in a second, by shaking her long mane, roaring in the mic over the band’s energetic electro-pop songs, dancing, bouncing as if she had been possessed by the ghost of rock’ n’ roll. She can jump 10 times from one corner of the stage to the other, crowd surf back and forth and climb the scaffolding in less time it will take you to sip your margarita. And at the top of this, the petite woman has a powerhouse for a voice. She is a showgirl, a hurricane on stage with a complete enthusiasm for performance and plenty of sensuality.

Despite the fact that her band seemed to have impressed everyone, Chloe has announced that Kitten’s second record will be released completely independently.
She made the decision to quit her label after being on a major label for years, and like many artists she thought she didn’t get enough support from them, and that they were not sharing her vision for the band. In other words, this is a very independent woman who intends to do things exactly her way.

The band is now relying 100% on their fans’ support to make a new record then tour inside and outside the US. So that’s why they have started a Pledgemusic page where fans can directly support Kitten and receive in exchange a special bundle. But Kitten having an unusual connection with their fans, the band has come up with really unexpected offers. Beside the usual downloads, signed CDs, posters, t-shirts… you can get ‘a disposable camera full of photos from the road, studio, with completely unique and not developed shots (for a pledge of just $45), a 30-minute ask-me-any-questions Skype session with Chloe for $100, a private yoga class with Chloe for $150, a private 40-minute Skype session for $150 (the band promises to play any song that you will request), A 45-minute vocal lesson with Chloe in person for $250, or via Skype for $150, a late dinner with the whole band (which comes with 2 tickets to the show of your choice) for $200, a shopping experience with Chloe, who will pick out your clothes for $300, a pick-any-song-you-want-and-we-will record-it for $400, a send-us-your-song-we-will-record-it for $750, and it goes on and on. There’s basically not a thing this girl can’t do for you! Kitten can also perform an acoustic set at your house for $1,000 but it will be $5,00 with the full band. And for $2,000, you can record a track at Kitten’s private studio. But if you are a real fan, the best deal may be the 2 lifetime tickets to all Kitten shows, backstage included, for $1,500.

Do bands have to do all this to survive independently? Is it the price to pay? Is it close to…. prostitution? I am a bit joking since Chloe Chaidez seems to be more than willing to participate in all this, she loves her fans and enjoys to interact with them, but an intimate dinner or a shopping experience may appear ‘too close for comfort’ for other performers who prefer to keep some distance with the audience. You can check all the offers on Kitten’s Pledgemusic page, and it is working great as they have reached 83% of their goal.
