Killer Mike Endorses Bernie Sanders!

“I am here as a proponent of the liberal revolution that says healthcare is a right. I am here because working class and poor people deserve a chance at economic freedom. And yes, if you work 40 hours a week — you should not be in poverty.

“While here, I have to tell you that in my heart of hearts, in my heart of hearts, I fully believe that Sen. Bernie Sanders is the right man to lead this country. I believe it because he, unlike any other candidate, said I would like to restore the Voting Rights Act. He, unlike any other candidate, said I wish to end this illegal war on drugs that disproportionate effects ethnic minorities and the poor. Unlike any other candidate in my life, he said that education should be free.”

As Shaun King wrote in the New York Daily News last night, ” Killer Mike has built real credibility in the activism space and his endorsement mattered.”

I am a huge fan of the Atlanta rap who came up with Outkast and who released one of the best rap albums of 2012, R.A.P. Music, even though I am in the minority of finding his rap duo Run The Jewels less thrilling (an iffy concert put me off). I caught him solo at the Studio Of Webster Hall.I wrote this at the time:

“An a cappella “Reagan” is followed by a brilliant “Never Scared” (the old Bone Crusher track) and the oldie “Burn” and he manages to make “Burn this mutha fucker down” sound like an expression of joyous community. Rapping to a sea of white faces, KM doesn’t shy from his politics, an invective loathing of modern Government institutionalized racism, or his gangsta past, though he appears to prefer pro wrestling today, but tonight he wants to provide, at the heart of his set, a joining of people, a poppy thrill ride of hooks, dancing and singalongs. For half an hour he makes his case and he makes it very very well. “They say there’s nobody here”, he mentions at the outset, though the place is pretty filled, “But I don’t care, I love this.” And if the man is always this upbeat, I bet his kids worship him.” (here)

See Killer Mike’s  terrific endorsement of Bernie Sanders below. he makes a case and if it is your case you should vote for Bernie.
