Kanye West’s Disastrous Presidential Campaign

Kanye West's Disastrous Presidential Campaign

Kanye West’s Disastrous Presidential Campaign

This is the proof that we never know with mentally unstable people, after announcing on Tuesday that his campaign was over, Kanye decided to launch his presidential campaign on Sunday anyway!

This must have been one of his manic episodes and a highly-energetic Kanye showed up in front of a crowd at an event in Charleston, South Carolina.
Anyone who has read his last interview with Forbes magazine should not be surprised to learn that his rambling monologue was, once again, a surrealistic public self-implosion. As expected, he touched many subjects in a very disorganized manner, while showing up with a hairdo shaved into ‘2020,’ a bullet-proof vest – is he afraid of something? – but no mask, while practicing no real social distancing… bullet-proof vest and maskless, this clearly sums up Kanye’s mental confusion.

He talked about God, he has apparently a direct dialogue with the supreme being, he mentioned his deals with Adidas and Gap, he talked about racism, and even criticized civil rights icon Harriet Tubman who ‘never actually freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people.’ It was obviously very offensive when considering Tubman’s courageous life and brave fight for freedom, but Kanye has never cared about offending people, he is a no-filter man acting in a no-filter zone, that’s even one of his character traits or one of his mental disease’s symptoms.

But the event revolved a lot about his personal life, and during a very intimate moment, he revealed that his girlfriend (at the time) Kim Kardashian called him crying because she was pregnant with their first child. While thinking about abortion, a divine intervention changed everything: ‘I had my laptop up and I got all of my creative ideas … And the screen went black and white and God said, ‘if you fuck with my vision I’m going to fuck with yours’. And they kept the baby. ‘I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter!’ he shouted, before crying about himself, ‘My mom saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy.’

Is this the kind of thing you would expect during the launch of a presidential campaign? Of course not, but meltdowns come with the character… There certainly was a lot of talking about pregnancy and abortion, and he even went to suggest that ‘everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars.’ Even though he declared abortion should be legal in 2020, his beliefs about Planned Parenthoods – Planned Parenthoods ‘have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work‘ – let me worry about the kind of damage he could do to women’s reproductive rights if he ever became president!

There was more of course, but in the end, it was a long-winded tortured rant, with people screaming, cheering, booing, with Kanye trying to make himself heard, trying to silence them and at the same time, saying he was ‘not trying to quiet their voices’. Everything sounded so confusing, and he apparently refused to use a mic, which makes the videos of the event very difficult to follow, …damn, he was able to steal Taylor Swift’s mic and didn’t use one at this event?

Even though a diagnostic has never been made official, it is obvious that Kanye has a severe chemical imbalance, while fitting all the criteria for bipolar disorder. At one point, he even screamed at a woman, ’and your face is covered so we cannot see who you are?’ He is even realizing we are in the middle of a pandemic? Not only he had gathered all these people inside a tent without any social distancing but he was reproaching a woman to wear a mask.

Kanye has always acted pompous and grandiose, he has compared his music to a ‘cure for cancer,’ has called himself ‘the new Jim Morrison, the new Kurt Cobain, Warhol, Shakespeare in the flesh,’ ‘a genius,’ ‘the number one human being in music,’ the ‘most impactful artist of our generation,’ … I could go on and on. Thus, it’s really not surprising that Kanye would have a presidential ambition. However, according to the Guardian, Kanye ‘missed the deadline to qualify for the ballot in several states,’ while it is unclear if he was ‘able to collect enough signatures required to qualify in others. Oklahoma is ‘the first state where he met the requirements before the filing deadline,’ but US News and other media outlets are now saying that he did not file the necessary paperwork to have his name appear on the November presidential ballot in South Carolina.

This means that this event in Carolina was effectively a complete circus which obviously will not lead anywhere. But in case some people are seriously considering him as a candidate, how comfortable would you be with the finger of an unstable man on the nuclear button?

The launch of Kanye West’s disastrous presidential campaign – and I haven’t watched all the videos that have surfaced – can also appear voyeuristic. People laugh at a man with an obvious mental problem making a fool of himself, and this has all the characteristics of a freak-show. The media track each one of his moves and this cannot end very well. Kanye was already hospitalized in 2016 for mental health issues, and there’s nothing in his discourse that says, ‘I am okay, this is just a publicity stunt.’ I actually think Kanye is sincere in his delusional grandiosity and rambling folly. Why is his family allowing such a sad spectacle?
