I swear, when the prices bottomed out to $150 I was thisclose to investing in a ticket to see aging uber popstar Jeff Lynne at Irving Plaza. What stopped me was the venue, a standing room only place that I’d have never seen a second of the show, and also I am not that keen on the new album although, truth in advertising, it sounded a lot more like ELO than that Jeff solo three years ago.
I am assuming I will get to catch him when he plays (my bet) the Beacon next year.
In the meantime, this setlist has me salivating, “Turn To Stone”, newbie and then “Livin’ Thing” early and those two songs before Jeff returns to his true roots with a Berry cover at the end must have been insane. I’m telling you, if I miss many more concerts this big I am handing in my keyboard and becoming a chartered accountant. He missed my fav on the album as well, “Dirty To The Bone”. At the bottom? Some film from the gig.
