Is Shawn Mendes Gay? And If Not, Why Not?

Over in Germany in the 1980s, as AIDS raged, married men with kids in strollers would wander the streets of Berlin in tight jeans, wife beaters, porno star moustaches, aka the Homosexual National Uniform, while being clearly straight. The point being that gaydar is as gaydar does.

Fast forward to 1999 and Ricky Martin is frolicing with hot girls in bikinis for videos, and the whispers as to his sexual orientation were a roar from anybody who knew him when he was in “Les Miz” on Broadway. Eleven years later he came out. But it was kinda obvious.

Which leads us to Shawn Mendes “Senorita” (Grade: C+) video with the hugely attractive Camila Cabello:

The problem is, Shawn has zero point zero sexual chemistry with Camila, they slither and slide, they roll on the bed (though they don’t even kiss), and they moan and groan and it is completely unbelievable. There is no sexual tension (oh, and what’s with having Camila as a waitress -gimme a fucking break), there are no sparks, it is the least sexual sex bomb video you have ever seen. If Shawn wants to be a bimbo, be a bimbo, stick your fucking tongue down her throat.

Go back a month and look at Shawn in the brief’s ad campaign for Calvin Klein and he looks hot as fuck, a twink jerk off book for gay men everywhere. So why is he hot in one and not in the other? Is he gay? IDK…

However, Shawn has clearly stated in interviews that he is a het and really, he would be a million times worse lying about it than coming out so, then… what?

1 -There are plenty of straight men mistaken for gay men.

2 – There are plenty of twenty year old people who haven’t figured out their sexuality yet… especially difficult considering Shawn’s religious upbringing.

3 – He is lying, the up isn’t up enough to tell the truth.

4 – He isn’t attracted to Camila (she certainly isn’t attracted to him)

If I was Shawn I’d leak a sex tape… but even that wouldn’t stop it. What I certainly wouldn’t do is appear in a third video with Camila…  this isn’t about bad rumors but a lack of heterosexuality. A lack of chemistry. It’s difficult to be a boy tween sensation and not give off homosexual vibes, and it must be frustrating for Shawn to keep on repeating his hetiness… also, he’s right, insulting, but even so, an interesting anomaly.

By the time Ricky Martin came out, it didn’t affect his fanbase, if Shawn came out, however woke his fans were, it would not be good for him. He can do it in ten years, but now… difficult, really.

But if all of that is a question mark, though, really, we are well past the time where being homosexual is an insult or slanderous, and perhaps he could weather it. What about his family? “Shawn Mendes Religion history is that he was raised Christian and appears to still be Christian. He comes from a religious family and is pretty open about his faith”. That’s a real problem for many Christian homosexuals, while I have no knowledge I can’t help but suspect that seriously religious families would not be happy to find a homosexual in their midsts. To come out might be to be cut off. If you add business to personal, it gets bad. Meanwhile, if he has officially dated anybody I can’t find who (the latest rumor is he has hooked up with Camila).  Yet his actions seem to make no sense, why deny he was dating Hailey Baldwin for a year? What gives?

I would put Shawn right next to Bruno Mars: we will have to wait and see…
