“Zayn Malik has revealed details of his debut solo single, ‘Pillow Talk’ – and is decidedly unambiguous as to what it’s about: “Everybody has sex, and it’s something people wanna hear about.”
The new song, Malik’s first since leaving One Direction last year, will be released at the end of this month.
Speaking of the song in a new interview with the Sunday Times Culture, Malik said, “I don’t want to make it black and white for people. I just want it to be creative, still and artistic.”
He added that it was “pretty black and white” as to what the song is about. “Everybody has sex,” he insisted, “and it’s something people wanna hear about. It’s part of everybody’s life, a very big part of life. And you don’t wanna sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about.”
That was from gigwise.
Let me start by saying, I think Zayn is out of his mind for not working more with Naughty Boy. Last year, a Zayn-Naughty Boy song “I Got You” appeared for a moment and it was simply terrific so it had me considering what Zayn would come up with. I could certainly dream of an entire album of Zayn-Boy, instead I am getting nothing.
A song about sex hits me as a populist move, and Zayn is becoming a straight George Michaels, but the other snippets of songs I’ve heard here and there have been soulful and very cool and I have sky high hopes for this even without Naughty Boy.
