It has been a terrifying 2021 for me and a lousy one for everyone else. A period of serious transition.
But as the dust clears, we are still here, still listening to music, still going to every show we can.
As an act of faith in tomorrow, I just bought an orchestra seat to Olivia Rodrigo in April 2022. I look at Olivia the way I remember looking at Elvis Costello in 1977 when I was twenty years and dragged myself away from a hangover to buy a tix to the Live Stiff’s tour after seeing Elvis sing “The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes” on Tony WIlson’s Granda program “What’s On”. It just mattered.
I feel the same way about Rodrigo, Sour has the same DNA, the same sense of foreboding in a pop rock veneer, like the Sex Pistol on the “Anarchy On The UK” tour, if you weren’t there by all means you shoulda been. So I invested $650 just to prove we are still here and we still care in our thirteenth year without cessation. Right through the pandemic, right through every season and every holiday, rocknyc.live is a constant. We are always here. And always will be…
