So, I went $650 for Governors Ball yet again. Why? For kanye west. Everything else is gravy and everything is worth noting doesn’t include the two names we were looking for, Guns N Roses and LCD Soundsystem, which certainly suggests either AEG punk out and GB decides to add them later -certainly a possibility as it hits me that of the three headliners, only one is actually a headliner.
Also, of the top four names, I have already seen three of them at Governors Ball: Ye, the Strokes and Beck which leads the entire event a sense of deja vu beyond all reason. Other names as well, Gary Clark again? Why?
Moving from the bottom up, you have to check out four lines before you reach Elle King… Elle King?? She’s the Rob Scheider of blues, Then nothing to Fidlar, then nothing to a whole lotta would have had trouble selling out Webster Hall till Vin Mensa.
It is more fun from the top down. Death Cab, M83, Miike Snow, Jamie xx, hey maybe Josh will play with Eagles Of Death Metal.
Either side, this is pretty good nothing special, Except for Kanye, Coachella beats it handily, if Flushchella has the same line up as their West Coast buddies, Governors Ball is six and done. There is really comparison, no Mavis Staples, or Alessia Cara, A$AP Rocky, the Front Bottoms, or Hudson Mohawke. Who did the booking for this? What gives?
