meghan-trainor-no

The Little Things (feat Angela McCluskey) – Big Gigantic – Big big sounding bass and drums and horns heavy dance track for the masses – B

Big Ideas – The Boxer Rebellion – Atmospheric pop rock will put you to sleep at 20 paces – C

American Country Love Song – Jake Owen – Anthem attempt which falls flat on its lack of an original thought in its entire body of song – D+

You’re Not There – Lukas Graham – The “7 Years” guys, who have ruled the UK single charts for a month, try again and it isn’t the immense annoyance their hit is… so far  – C+

Do It, Try It – M83 – The French DJs go for a mainstream hit, with a piano heavy opener exploding into sound and vision and not much more – C+

NO – Meghan Trainor – OK, no prizes for guessing this will be a huge smash: as catchy a dis song as you’ll ever hear with a stupid fresh beat that will propel it to the top of the charts – B+

My Heart Beats 4 u – Rooney – Nice rhyme for Barry Manilow on this poppy rock self portrait – C+

Rise – Sixx AM – The Motley Crue bassist provides about as obvious a metal anthem as humanly possible – C-

Shovels And Dirt – The Strumbellas – Whenever you hear the word shovel in an Americana folk song, worry. This is OK though, catchy in a Lumineers kinda way – C+

Brace For Impact (Live A Little) – Sturgill Simpson – Blah country blues – C

Grandma’s Garden – Zac Brown – Brutal – D+
