Going Steady: New Singles Reviewed 11-10-17 – 11-16-17

Gummo – 6x9ine – Loud and vicious scream rap, the track haunts and the gangsta projects strongly – B

Girl Who cried Wolf – Ashe – Alt pop is where it’s at in 2017, this is timely putdown of predators which surges ever forward – B

Dubo Drop – A-Trak, Baauer – Baauer is the “Harlem Shake” auteur, though this doesn’t step out of A-Trak’s Houseish wheelhouse – B-

Seven Sticks Of Dynamite – AWOL Nation – A bluesy rock winner from a band very easy to love – B+

Other Worlds – Bassnectar, Dorfex Bos – When beats go ambient and yet are still loud and overwhelming – B

World Gone Mad – Bastille – One hit wonder get another hit on this nasty sounding horror – D

I Know You Care – Ella Vos – More alt pop, this one is more pop than alt – C+

Walk On Water (featuring Beyonce) – Eminem – Eminem is a whiny little bitch who deserves a hard slap for this crap, Bey has another dog on her hand with a crap chorus – MUST TO AVOID – D

I’m With Her – See You Around – AKA Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan, I liked an Aoife album a coupla months back. This sounds like the Roches if the Roches weren’t great – B-

Wake Me Up – Remy Ma, Lil Kim – The 90s are back and you can keep em on this boring slice of rap – C+

Crises – Rich Chigga, 21 Savage – Here’s a first, an Indonesian rapper cum comedian with a Southern gangsta. It shouldn’t work but it does – B

All I Got – Said The Sky, Kwesi – Power ballad EDM – C+

Snowman – Sia – It’s been a great year for new Christmas songs, Sia is in terrific voice (she sounds like Amy Winehouse) and the song is a triumph of construction and pop ballad – SINGLE OF THE WEEK – A-
