Any Moment Now – Barbra Streisand, Hugh Jackman – The concept, actors singing Broadway songs with Barbra sure sucks because the dialogue portion is beyond uncomfortable. A terrible idea – C

22 Oversoon – Bon Iver – It sounds really gorgeous, is that a horn? It is both delicious and irritating. And Justin is a superb voice. The song isn’t very much, however – B-

This House Is Not For Sale – Bon Jovi – After years of half rock, half country dithering, this is a sturdy little rocker imprinted on – B-

Clumsy – Britney Spears – So she is two for three in 2016, this is a very very fresh beat, slightly deranged and off kilter but uniquely Brit – B+

Never Got Away – Colbie Caillat – West Coast 70s pop, like Carole King without the melodic genius – C

Calling My Children Home – Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt – A capella beauty from the Box Set Dolly promised at Forest Hills. Very lovely – B

Drawn – de La Soul, Little Dragon – The thinking person’s hip hop squad meets the thinking person’s EDM band, this has a tremendous chorus and a great rap… what more do you want? Well, the rap doesn’t appear till four minutes into a five minutes song – B+

Stand By Me – Florence + The Machine – She sings it to a standstill – B+

Kids – Onerepublic – Isn’t it time for a changing of the guard? Not more crap fake rock and beats. Whatever, this one is pretty good – B-

Move – Saint Motel – Give the glam rock big time long time popsters this, they do what they do with extreme professionalism but miss on the tunefulness. Perfect dynamism though – B-

Out Of My Head – The Griswolds – David Letterman (remember him?) faves, are still experts at punk pop singalongs but do they have more than one runaway hit in em? – C+
