Going Steady: New Singles 11-24-17 – 11-30-17 Reviewed

Down Town – Anitta, J Balvin – It isn’t “Mi Gente,” it is a touch better with a Brazilian bombshell and a Columbian superstar in waiting, a nice shuffled beat and lotsa hi hat – B+

Because Of Toledo – Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Astoundingly dreary singer songwriter song from York in England, giving sobriety one more shot.

Don Dada (feat B. Will & Lee Banks) – Boosie Badazz – Badazz claims he is a modern T pac but he lacks the heart and on this bland gangsta rap he lacks the rhymes – C+

Mic Drop (feat Desiigner ) (Steve Aoki Remix) – BTS – K-Pop goes mainstream with a state of the art DJ remixing and a new trap rapper as hot as you get thowing down a verse – B

Naked – James Arthur – The homophobic halfwit X Factor star with an awful ballad –Must To Avoid – C-

Krippy Kush – Remix – Farukko Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, Bad Bunny, Rvssian – This is great, Minaj, who has had a great three months, nails the verse with slippery and arrogant rhymes, Bad Bunny events a great beat and the overall hook, by Farukko is world class. Even 21 Savage doesn’t piss me off – SINGLE OF THE WEEK – A-

Summer In December – G-Eazy – lo fi supper club jazz track added to rotten rap – C

Shira – Glassjaw – Clangy hardcore on eagerly awaited 15 years in the making return – C+

Don’t Slam The Door – Icona Pop – With these guys, out of every five songs they release one is a killer. This is the one – B+

GPS – Maluma, French Montana – Columbian singer songwriter, not bad, the rap is lame by the always iffy French Montana – C+

My Way – One Bit, Noah Cyrus – Noah is the model of a modern popstar, always showing up on one song or another, this song, by UK EDM duo, is a little 2017 –I mean February 2017 – C+

Balance (feat dvsn and PnB Rock – Ho hum hip hop r&b – C+

Roll Over Beethoven – The Rolling stones – Not bad but they take it too fast, Keef’s lead is a thing of grat beauty – B

American Soul – U2 – This is the one Kendrick used in full and it is one of the reasons I’m excited for the next album – B+
