Going Steady: New Single Releases 10-21-22 – 10-27-22 Reviewed

Take Shots (feat. Tory Lanez) – A Boogie Wit da Hoodie – the finger picked acoustic guitar, why exactly, I mean, eh? I guess it works well enough – B-

Do Better – Ab-Soul, Zacari – The Black Hippie leader (and he was great on the TDE tour at MSG) with a first rate hook to pull the low key lounge pop song – B

Sunset – Caroline Polachek – fabulous electronic goes flamenco on a first rate track from the always evolving singer – SINGLE OF THE WEEK A-

Don’t Leave Me Lonely – Clean Bandit, Elley Duhé – perhaps the best EDM band in the world today with a beautiful, electronic drop the bass and synth line – B

Obsession – Eric Bellinger – electronic feels on a straight up r&b – C

Your Mind (Remember When You Lost That) – ILOVEMAKONNEN – the Atlanta r&b guy who can use autotune with aplomb on a song with a very strong hook – B+

i’m sorry – Joshua Bassett – for goodness sake, get over Olivia – D+

The Battle Begins – Lil Moses – straightforward indie rock mood piece – C+

Just Wanna Rock – Lil Uzi Vert – one of the finest songwriters in the rap world, they are very strong on this electronic rap low key affair – B
