Today, Brooklyn’s Gloss Gang is sharing a new video and single. “In a Minute” is a hard hitting, resonating bass-heavy track produced by Branchez about how life in the streets can change in the blink of an eye for better or worse. To accompany the single, Gloss Gang is releasing a moody black and white music video featuring the two rappers in a warehouse surrounded by a gang. The new video utilizes highly contrasting visuals, including close ups of Gloss Gang performing “In a Minute” and b-roll footage of Swook and Stackz. The video comes ahead of the group’s forthcoming mixtape Money. Brower. Respect. 2, due soon via Payday Records.
“This song just serves as a constant reminder for everyone especially the youth to think before you do anything, cause we experienced it all first hand,” says Swook. “We done lost a lot of our brothers to the streets and the justice system so instead of having to go through that yaself learn from the mistakes of others.”
“Especially with how shit is now a days, with everybody doing the most for the internet and not really thinking about the consequences,” continues 700 Stackzs. “So whether it be Popping pills, playing with guns or whatever…just know if you not careful you could lose it all in a minute ya Freedom, ya Life, or even the things you worked hard for. So before you do anything… THINK.”
Hailing from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Gloss Gang is Swook and Stackz. When they were kids the two met in Brower Park, located in the center of Crown Heights, where they would eventually find common ground in rap and form a group. Since the late 2014 release of their mixtape Money. Brower. Respect. Gloss Gang has been buzzing in New York, known for their high octane live sets. The tape caught the attention of producer Mike Dean, and the group has since been in the studio working on MBR2.
Most recently, Gloss Gang came out with single, “Say That.” Additionally, Gloss Gang teamed up with Adidas for a commercial, featuring a new pair of agility based running shoes. The commercial features their song “Feelin Good,” which has racked up over 93,000 plays on SoundCloud.
Last year, Mass Appeal released a 26 minute documentary that offers an extensive overview of the Gloss Gang’s past, from their roots with the notorious Brower Park Boys gang to their current standing. Watch the new video for “In A Minute” and Money. Brower. Respect. (The Documentary) above, see below to hear the previously released “Say That,” and stay tuned for more from Gloss Gang.
