Gene Simmons And Taleb Kweli’s Feud Over The Future Of Music

Talib and Gene

What’s going on? Gene Simmons is everywhere, especially on the controversial and feud front. When he is not complimenting his friend Donald Trump, he admits having a death wish for a specific form of music: rap

In a new interview with Rolling Stone on Friday, the Kiss man declared: ‘I am looking forward to the death of rap… I’m looking forward to music coming back to lyrics and melody, instead of just talking. A song, as far as I’m concerned, is by definition lyric and melody … or just melody.’

‘Rap will die. Next year, 10 years from now, at some point, and then something else will come along. And all that is good and healthy.’

This annoyed a bit Talib Kweli who had a few intelligent things to reply and some well-deserved insults like ‘Would it be unfair of me to say I’m looking forward to the death ‪@genesimmons or nah? Chuck Berry shits on Kiss.’

Simmons tried to save his ugly face with the argument that he was talking about the cyclical aspect of music: ‘Apparently pointing out that everything is cyclical – even music – is “controversial”. People are very easily offended.’

As Kweli replied, his tweet had nothing to do with music being cyclical, Simmons doesn’t even have the courage of his opinion! The truth is that he hates rap, and 2 years ago he had already protested against Run-D.M.C.’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, saying he didn’t want hip hop acts to be inducted into the Rock institution. But to go back to his stupid argument that everything is cyclical… Hip hop was born during the early 70’s, rock & roll in the mid 50’s, so Kiss’ music is long overdue, they are like the walking dead of the music industry, they are even in full zombie make up. I wonder why Rolling Stone still bothers to interview that clown.
