Four Music Festivals For New York??? Live Nation Join In

This is from today’s New York Post (here): “Queens Borough President Melinda Katz is opposing requests by two major concert promoters to use Flushing Meadows Corona Park for major music festivals this summer — but she hasn’t said a peep about a third application filed by a rival company that employed her as a lobbyist in 2011 and 2012, The Post has learned. Katz for months has been demanding more “transparency” from AEG Live and Madison Square Garden before the Parks Department decides whether to approve their pending applications to hold megafestivals in Queens’ largest park. However, records show Live Nation — another major promoter — has its own permit application to close part of the park and host shows on June 11, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20.”

Let’s ignore question as to whether the Beep closed her eyes for somebody who used to cut here a check (in care you were wondering, of course she did. That’s the way it goes, child. And note that Live nation -who failed to do a half way decent job at last year’s Country Fest on Randall Island (so bad they forgot to get any headliners for any of the three dates) and do a little math here.

1 – Governors Ball ready and set for June 3rd to June 4th at Randalls Island

2 – Followed the very next Saturday, June 11th, at Flushing Meadows by Live nation

3 – Then two weeks later June 24th – June 26th,  AEG will hold fourth on the nyc Coachella.

4 – Somewhere within those weeks, or even on the same June 24th time,  MSG would present a Fest that  “…will celebrate quintessential New York with food and entertainment as well as music.”

5 – Then two more days in August from Live Nation.

What a, what’s the word, shit show? Why they all want in in June, before even High School is out for summer, I have no idea. Adults would get together and discuss… if there were any adults.

My money is on Governors Ball and AEG.
