Film At Eleven: Mick Jagger To Undergo Heart Valve Replacement Surgery This Week

Mick Jagger in Las Vegas in 2016

We now know why the Stones postponed their tour: Mick Jagger will have heart surgery to replace a valve this week in New York. The 75-year-old rock star was spotted sunbathing with family on the beach in Miami by the tabloids, but he was probably relaxing before going to the hospital. According to diverse sources, he will be undergoing a non-invasive heart valve procedure very soon and is expected to have a full recovery.

The Sun reports that Mick expects to be out of the hospital 48 hours after having surgery and hopes to be back on stage this summer… Slow down, I want to tell him, he may be in excellent shape (and he is!) but he is still 75 years old!

However, if it is indeed a non-invasive method, he can expect to recover faster, as these methods involve, either incisions in the chest smaller than open heart surgery, or even a catheter inserted in the leg or chest.

Does it mean we can expect to see the Stones back on tour this summer? Let’s wait and see, and especially let Mick have a full recovery, we know that time has always been on his side.
