Sadly, Echo Park Rising hasn’t reappeared since the pandemic. The neighborhood music festival was put on halt in 2020 like everything else, but this year, we will have Echo Farce Rising at the Echo and Echoplex in lieu of the multi-venue festival. It’s a (re)start that needs to be noticed.
Starting at 6 pm on Friday, August 19, then 2 pm on Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, you will be able to see all these bands (see the flyer above) for free: free for all has always been the idea behind EPR.
To be honest, I don’t know many of these groups, although I have seen a few of them: Bonavega, Buyepongo, Healing Gems, Melted Bodies, DMtina and the Bumps, Night Talks, Pom Poms, Slugs, The Abigails (formed by Warren Thomas, an ex-member of The Growlers), Traps PS, Urns and Argyles, Veronica Bianqui. Just based on these bands, the lineup promises to be very diverse, from pop to punk, but especially very colorful. If you have ever seen crazy Bonavega or wild DMtina and the Bumps, you certainly know what I am talking about. All of them are emerging artists and bands from Los Angeles’ local scene and this schedule should keep you very busy for three days. No reservation is necessary, it’s free and for all ages, so I have a feeling the Echo and Echoplex will be crowded.
Hopefully, set times will be posted soon.
