A spokesperson for producer Dr Luke has responded to recent claims from Kesha that she rejected an offer to leave her contract with Sony if she publicly apologised for her rape allegations against her former mentor.
As previously reported, Kesha has accused Dr Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald) of drugging and raping her a decade ago. She is also appealing the New York Supreme Court’s refusal to release her from her contract with Gottwald’s Sony imprint Kemosabe Records.
In an Instagram post Kesha had alleged that she was “offered my freedom” if she apologised publicly and said that she was never raped, what she said would be a “lie”. “I will not take back the truth,” the singer added. “I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.”
Since then, Gottwald’s spokesperson has issued a statement to Rolling Stone (via Fact), which reads: “The Court repeatedly stated Kesha is already free to record without Dr Luke, and that she had not presented any facts supporting her claims. That’s because all the evidence – including Kesha’s own videotaped sworn testimony – show her allegations are false. The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr Luke through publicity stunts and outrageous smears, ignoring the fact that by her own free will she went to work and entered into new contracts with Dr Luke years after this ‘incident’ supposedly happened.”
The statement continues: “Her goal all along has been solely personal enrichment by seeking to break contracts that brought her success and millions so she can enter into more lucrative ones. We look forward to our day in court holding Kesha accountable for her lies.”
so. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.

Dr Luke has repeatedly denied the accusations of rape, previously tweeting: “I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her”, further claiming that Kesha’s lawsuit is “motivated by money”.
Kesha has not released any music since 2013, claiming that her Sony contract prevents her from doing so without Gottwald’s involvement. However, she recently revealed that she is working on new material.
