Is it too early to make any Coachella 2016 predictions? I guess it is because we are barely in November, however, this is not really a prediction but rather a sure thing. Chic frontman, Nile Rodgers, who teamed up with Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams for their super hit “Get Lucky’, was giving an interview to the NY Times, and revealed the band’s participation in the giant festival,
‘He is helping to score Hugh Jackman’s new one-man show, and it’s going to be ‘insane’. Coachella called him and booked Chic to perform at the festival for the first time next spring, right around the time he is due to hit 64. How ‘awesome’ is that?’
I am sure Coachella-goers will find this very awesome as there is a ‘Daft Punk is gonna play’ rumor about every year…. Let’s bring back their 1978 hit ‘Le Freak’ and everyone will dance happy.
But who else could play? Everything goes and the usual suspects are found on many message boards from Beyonce, Radiohead, Coldplay to Foo Fighters, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar… Coldplay has a new album so it’s highly plausible… Shaun White’s Air + Style festival has just been announced its hip hop-heavy lineup for February, and it includes J. Cole, Incubus, Haim, Big Grams, All Time Low, Action Bronson, Rudimental, A-Track, Netsky… I hardly know these names, but if this is any indication…
Also LCD Soundsystem, Guns’ N’ Roses are also rumored because everyone likes a big reunion, Diplo has a collaboration with The Weeknd which drops during Coachella period, and let’s not forget about Phil Collins who is out of retirement! Anyway, every single band who is playing music at the time ends up at Coachella, and for my part, only the announcement of David Bowie headlining would make me drive to Indio county.
