Electronic artist and DJ puts a club-ready spin on the Grammy-winning classic co-written by Jackie DeShannon
Electronic artist and DJ Chase Maverix has announced a new signing with Spinnin’ Records, marking the release with a reworked version of “Bette Davis Eyes,” the Grammy-winning song originally written by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon. The single is out now through Spinnin’ and has already appeared in rotation on programs including Spinnin’ Sessions Radio.

Chase Maverix has been building a distinct identity within club culture, working at the intersection of house and techno with a warm, vintage-leaning sensibility and a strong emphasis on emotional depth. That approach carries through the new single, which channels the drama of the original recording into a floor-ready arrangement while keeping the melodic hook that made the song a standard.
“Bette Davis Eyes” was written by Weiss and DeShannon in 1974 and first recorded by DeShannon that year, before Kim Carnes’ 1981 version turned it into one of the biggest hits of its era. Carnes’ recording spent nine non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to win the 1982 Grammy Awards for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year. More than four decades later, the song continues to draw new interpretations, with Chase Maverix’s version reintroducing it to a dance-floor audience through one of the genre’s leading labels.

The signing adds Chase Maverix to a label roster with a long track record of breaking dance artists into the mainstream. “Bette Davis Eyes” is available now on all major streaming and download platforms.
