Cardi B Fights Candace Owens On Twitter During Labor Day Weekend

We are all tired of politics, I know I am, but we cannot escape it. America has never been so divided as a country and we are facing what everyone calls the most important election in our lifetime, so every story is tainted by politics and controversy.
Rapper Cardi B spent a large amount of her Labor Day weekend fighting with conservative commentator Candace Owens on Twitter. I was not following the battle in real-time, but the funny thing is that both parties have declared victory along with their respective crowds in the aftermath.
So what happened? It was a messy exchange, but when Candace Owens posted a video of herself criticizing Joe Biden for having interviewed Cardi B instead of some ‘amazing intellectual Black people,’ she launched the first attack, ‘It’s because you are pandering,’ she added while saying that Black people should be insulted that Biden (and Sanders before) chose to sit with an illiterate rapper. ‘her music and platform contributes to the disintegration of black culture and values…’ Owens wrote.
Cardi replied with another video showing her sister harassed by Trump supporters on the beach, and it was the start of a long and tenacious fight. Cardi B’s arguments were about the ‘hard work’ Owens had done to support Trump while being snubbed by the Republican convention.
But when Owens argued that Biden only talked to Cardi B because she had the number 1 song, Cardi jumped on the occasion to remind her number 1 spot to everyone: ‘Yes you are right I have the number 1 song & I have a huge platform and I can make millions go vote to get the MAN THAT USED YOU. I don’t want to argue with you Candace I really don’t have the time. I honestly just feel sorry for you.’
There was more during this exchange bringing up Trump’s racism and Biden’s past political mistakes, but Owens certainly made a mistake when she took a condescending tone while regarding Cardi B ‘dumb.’ The Bronx rapper was sharp and she even continued the fight on Instagram with videos (now deleted) revealing she had had to hire a private detective after a Trump supporter shared her address and encouraged people to set fire to her house. She even accused Owens to have been trying to sit down with her for about a year, even once offering her $250,000.
So who won? The funny thing is that Candace Owens is saying that Cardi B is used by the Democratic party because of her millions of followers when you could exactly say the same thing about Owens’ long history with the Republican party. She recently criticized Black Lives Matter, reprimanding the Black community for making a ‘martyr’ out of Floyd, she may be conservative to the core but none of her condescending remarks will have any effect on the very outspoken Cardi B.
