CALL ME MICKY, the compelling documentary short chronicling the extraordinary journey of Micky Angelo Petrillo, is heading into an exciting fall festival season with six festival appearances scheduled across September, October and November.
Directed by Andrew Rasmussen and executive produced by Dominique Jackson, CALL ME MICKY tells Petrillo’s deeply personal story of embracing his authentic identity and transitioning at the age of 59. The film is an intimate exploration of courage, transformation, self-discovery and the freedom that can come from finally becoming the person you always knew yourself to be.
The festival journey begins at the Newark International Film Festival (NIFF), September 10–13, followed by the Susquehanna LGBTQ Film Festival, September 11–13. CALL ME MICKY will also be featured at the Fire Island Transgender Film Festival, September 11–12.
The momentum continues at Reel Pride’s 37th Annual LGBTQ Film Festival, taking place September 18–20.
In October, CALL ME MICKY heads to the Black Bear Film Festival, October 9–11, before continuing its fall festival journey at the Teaneck International Film Festival, November 5–12.
Six festivals in three months represent an important moment for Petrillo and the filmmakers behind CALL ME MICKY. Each festival introduces his story to another audience while opening conversations about identity, acceptance, resilience and the possibility of beginning a new chapter at any stage of life.
For Micky Angelo Petrillo, CALL ME MICKY is more than a documentary. It is the story of a life finally being lived openly and authentically—and, as the film continues traveling from festival to festival this fall, that story is reaching an ever-growing audience.
