“…if the single ‘Jibberish’ is any indication, the album is going to be pretty fucking fun.”
– The 405

“With his uplifting beat architecture and groovy guitar loops, it’s hard not to like him and his work. They give us an optimistic feeling that we all undoubtedly love to feel.”
– Earmilk

“Tom finds a way to usher in his distinct take on the season, choosing to include a pondering yet relaxing mood that permeates through and almost forces you to lose sense of time altogether. (Broke For Free) serenely outlines an untouched yet ideal spot, and with subtle summer synths, improvised drums, and unpredictable percussive additions, all you have to do is just dive in without a single doubt.”
– Hilly Dilly

“Honestly, the best thing to wake up to is an email from Tom Cascino (aka Broke For Free), because I know that I’m about to lose myself in his music for the next three to four minutes.”
– Indie Shuffle

Oakland-based artist/producer, Broke For Free, shares a brand new video titled, “Jibberish” feat. Awon. It’s the latest visual to be released off his upcoming visual album, BFF, which is due out in May. The single/video, as well with the rest of the vids on the album, was written, directed and produced by Tom himself. Tap into the visual up top and be sure to stay tuned for more news on the upcoming record!

The 405 shared the video on Friday and called it “a surreal yet entrancing oddity. The best summary would be lips on inanimate objects, but you should really just watch for yourself, which you can do up above.”

The new single/video features vocals from VA wordsmith, Awon. He describes the song as “a cross-pollination of genres with a feel-good vibe that oozes positivity with an air of cool.”

An ode to shower-thought concepts and DE(everything)Y hustle, BFF is an unfiltered peak into a creative’s mind. After working on GoPro’s music content for years, Tom took his pages on pages of film-centric ideas and brought them to life through this audio visual project, BFF. Broke For Free is the musician, producer, director, filmer and editor behind this project.

Broke For Free (BFF) is the moniker of Oakland based musician and creative, Tom Cascino. Tom started making music in his bedroom in 2012, taking it full-time in 2017. This DE(everything)Y project blends Tom’s unpredictable arrangements, guitar layers, syncopated beats, cinematography, design, and editing to give you an authentic peek into his head. Broke For Free’s work has a sense of cohesion that’s hard to define; it captures a unique vibe, a good feeling.

His influences range from Outkast, Tycho, Modest Mouse, Khruangbin, Mac Demarco to Tyler the Creator, giving his sound an unique pallet of genres and moods.
