What a 12 months it’s been for Tom Walker! After seeing his single ‘Leave A Light On’ become an international hit in 2018, the UK’s biggest breakout star has started 2019 with a bang.
‘Leave A Light On’ was named in the top 40 songs of the year in the UK, was no.1 on iTunes in 20 countries, became the 6th most Shazammed track in the world, went platinum in 10 countries and saw him perform on the X Factor UK (twice) and TOTP! The year ended with Tom also bagging a number of awards including Sync Artist of the Year at the Music Week Sync Awards and the ASCAP Vanguard Award (previous recipients include Dua Lipa, Jess Glynn and Calvin Harris). He also performed for the royal family at the Royal Foundation Dinner to top off the year.
Taken from his debut album ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ (out March 1st), ‘Just You And I’ is produced by Mark Ralph (Years & Years, Clean Bandit, Rudimental) and has already become a firm fan favorite, sound-tracking First Dances at many a wedding!
ABOUT TOM WALKER
Born in Scotland and raised in Manchester, Walker became obsessed with his father’s record collection at a young age, finding inspiration in Ray Charles, The Police, and Bob Marley, to name a few. By 2016, the troubadour uncovered his own sound through layering rap-style production, electronic shine, and traditional acoustic power fuelled by dynamic powerhouse pipes. As songs such as “Fly Away With Me” took off, Walker earned the praise of Pigeons & Planes, British GQ, Clash, Sunday Times, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Beats 1, Earmilk, Complex, Source UK, Eargasm, and more. He’s won over live crowds across the globe on his own tours, and supporting stints alongside the likes of Gallant, Jake Bugg, and a 2017 U.S. tour where he supported multiplatinum Dublin rockers The Script.
