Blondie And Garbage Team Up For The ‘Rage And Rapture’ Tour

Although these two rocking ladies don’t have a date in my town – please tell me, why Santa Barbara and not Los Angeles?? – they are probably be a must see during this summer. Blondie and Garbage are hitting the road together for a series of concerts across the USA.

Debbie Harry and Shirley Manson are two powerful frontwomen, and this certainly announces a very memorable tour. Rightly named the ‘Rage and Rapture tour’, the two bands will be able to play new songs, as Blondie will release their 11th studio album ‘Pollinator’ on May 5th, an album which features a lot of collaborations from an eclectic pool of artists , from TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, to Sia, Charli XCX, Laurie Anderson, Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes, Joan Jett, and Johnny Marr.

On the other hand, Garbage released ‘Strange Little Birds’ last year and will release an autobiographical coffee table book ‘This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake,’ this summer…. So who knows what could come with he book… new music?

A tour featuring such iconic artists will probably bring surprises and unexpected singing duos, at least one can hope. Wouldn’t you want to see Debbie Harry, Shirley Manson and, let’s say …Joan Jett sharing the same stage for a few songs? Backed up by Dave Sitek and Johnny Marr? That would be way too much, I am well aware of this, but since Blondie has been quoted to be ‘serious about fun’, we can expect entertainment, and a lot of dancing.

X’s John Doe & Exene Cervenka will open the first half of the tour and high-energy female duo Deap Vally will be their supporting act for the second half… And one cool thing is that I recently covered both bands, at the Roxy and the Regent respectively.

Tickets for the Rage and Rapture tour go on sale Friday, February 17th at 10 am , and a pre-sale is available for many shows through Ticketmaster using the password RAGEANDRAPTURE.
