SeatGeek: SeatGeek are bombarding my youtube account with the worst commercial to date (see above), punning on seat it is a close-up of my man moving his butt cheeks in brown corduroy pants; why their advertising agency believes this to be a selling point I truly can’t say but they are gravely mistaken. The mobile-focused ticket platform that enables users to buy and sell tickets for live sports, concerts and theater events did a terrific job on the Bruce Springsteen On Broadway, clearly superior to Ticketmaster. Yesterday I received this email:
|Allow us to introduce ourselves! We’re SeatGeek, the new Official Ticketing Partner of Barclays Center – we’ll be helping with ticketing all future events at Barclays Center! This means that even though you already have your tickets in a Ticketmaster account, you need to move those over to a SeatGeek account in order to gain entry into your ticketed event. It’s our goal to make your ticketing experience as seamless as possible, so we’ve outlined how to do this below. To get started you must set up your SeatGeek – Barclays Center Account Manager. For a step-by-step flow, click the link below. Here are a few helpful reminders:Double-check the email you’re signing into SeatGeek with. Make sure you either register or log in with the same email you have associated with your existing Ticketmaster account.Make sure you complete the set up of your account manager before the date of your first ticketed event. If you have any questions about SeatGeek, the account set-up process or would like to contact the SeatGeek team for additional support, please click here.|
In the New York City-Long Island area, the three big indoor arenas are Madison Square Garden, Nassau Coliseum and Barclay Center and TM losing Barclays is a big deal. According to Wikipedia: “The company’s box office clients include the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, Cleveland Cavaliers, Major League Soccer, and the majority of clubs across the English Premier League, including Liverpool F.C. and Manchester City F.C.”. In January they added Jujamcyn Theaters. One day they will match TM and AEG as one of the big three.
New York Yankees: the streakiest year in the club’s history is in a three way tie for second, which should make for an awesome end to the season. Though this is one year where the question is, simply, when will they get hot? I hope we are rid of Cashman and Boone for next season.
Ted Lasso: I am not as crazy about this season. Lasso’s greatness was making the world a safe place where people stick up for each other and love each other. It still is but even so, the reveal that Lasso’s father committed suicide when Ted was sixteen was horrific. I get hard headed reality not just from, well, reality, but equally on television constantly (even action heroes have baggage nowadays), Jason Sudeikis had a joy of life show and if IRL people might never be so caring, it was great to believe they are. In 2020 I thought it was better than “The Good Place,” in 2021 it clearly isn’t.
Norm MacDonald On Cancer: from the New York Times (here): “Macdonald once talked about an uncle dying of cancer, skewering how we now describe people suffering from that disease as “waging a battle” because that means the last thing you do before you die is lose. “I’m not a doctor, but I’m pretty sure that if you die, then the cancer also dies at the same time,” Macdonald said on Comedy Central. “That to me is not a loss. That’s a draw.”
