B4 XMAS – 24hrs – Click track, featured, stars, autotuned out of his mind, hooks to die for. What’s not to like? – B

X 100PRE – Bad Bunny – Bad Bunny perfects his Latin Trap meets reggaeton and mashes up with everything from punk to synth pop to rap. A masterclass in pop dynamics, where it is gone and where it will go, it is a major statement and instantly one of last year’s best releases – A;BUM OF THE WEEK –  A

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Season 1 (Selections from the Netflix Series) – Cast of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Awwww, Sanatin verses and Satanic folk songs! – B-

‘Go DeJ Go’ Vol.1 – DeJ Loaf – Personally, I would have preferred the entire album, but I am a huge fan and place the rapper singer just a step below Leikeli47 and Jessie Reyez : “Big Shit Talking” is completely addictive – A-

Unfinished Masterpiece – Eddie Palmieri, Lalo Rodriguez – The 1975 masterpiece of salsa re-released – A

Joy as an Act of Resistance. – IDLES – Somehow or the other I missed this English UK bands superb sophomore effort, a hard hitting roar of resistance where the joy is in the performance and the resistance in the lyrics – A-

The Song Society Playlist – Jamie Cullum – The UK cabaret-great American songbook singer who you might have caught opening for Billy Joel at his MSG residency, till Billy realized he didn’t need an open. He was terrific then, he was terrific on this modern classics from “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” to “Ex Factor” segued to the Drake song that sampled it, “Nice For What”. So, really, classic performances of songs that don’t figure to fit – B+

Resistance is Futile (Deluxe Version) – Manic Street Preachers – Two weeks after it dropped in the UK, it still wasn’t released here. So I gave up and they dropped it when I wasn’t looking – B

Everything Was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt (Remixes) – Moby – If anybody understands remixes, Moby understands remixes… so listen to his atmospheric plus house drums… shout out to Hyperion – B-

Erase The Pain – Palisades Melodic without being memorable, post-hardcore bore – C

Music Rescues Me – Paul van Dyk – The old school DJ helped invent the world of EDM and lives exactly where he invented it, if you’ve been gagging to drop the bass, drop it here – B-

Whack World – Tierra Whack – Another one that I missed, and more black girl magic to end the year. Fifteen songs. Fifteen minutes. Concise (not speedy) chill r&b plus rap and… country on the brilliant “Fuck Off”  – B+
