It’s a free country, you can say whatever you want… until you get banned from social media and suspended from Twitter. This is what happened to rapper Azealia Banks after she attacked former One Direction singer Zayn Malik and 14-year old Skai Jackson. There is actually a Twitter police?
The rapper must be pissed off today but what else could happen when you are posting a series of racist and homophobic slurs? She effectively accused Malik of copying her style in his music video for ‘Like I Would’ and called him a ‘curry scented bitch’ and fagot’. She tried to recover by writing a sort of apology a bit later ‘I had to remind him that we’re both in the same boat in this industry and people of colour. By reminding him that no matter what you may think of yourself, the world still sees you as ‘other’, as they see me’, but it didn’t really worked, and Twitter booted her out.
And to went beyond Twitter, according to the Huffington post the London Born and Bred festival decided to canceled her performance, and tweeted that the festival was ‘a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE. We celebrate inclusivity and equality’
As for Skai, a Disney Channel star, she is not only very photogenic but also very smart and she stayed very classy when facing Banks’ abrupt insults: ‘Never heard of you before. Never even seen you on TV… You aren’t a star. You aren’t a topic. You’re a Meme’, wrote Banks….’A meme with 2,3 million Instagram followers. My memes are more relevant than you now that’s sad. Now bye Twitter troll’, answered Skai.
When a 14-year-old gives you a lesson…. This sounded so mature that Azealia accused Skai’s mom to be behind the tweets, and then accused her to over-sexualize her daughter. Banks is never out of ideas for blaming people.
She has attacked many celebrities before, and if this is funny when she insults Sarah Palin or Donald Trump, she most of the time looks pathetic, and she is not going to get any sympathy, attacking a child is never a good move nor calling Beyonce ‘a thief’ and saying that her album was ‘bad for black women and feminism’.
Banks clearly thinks she is smarter than the rest of us, that she can accomplish anything, she is always the one screaming people are racist while she was the one being racist, Insulting people is an art, ask Noel Gallagher, Banks just ends up looking like a troll sitting at a top of a giant mess. She is rebelling but she doesn’t even know whom or what she is rebelling against, the LGBT community, Trump, black women, kids, the whole artist community,… she has to pick her battle if she wants to be taken seriously! However, her anger is so vast, she wants to be at war against the whole world, and she insults everyone just to be criticized. Worst, she seems to enjoy it, she is actually delighted to be the martyr of rap, the misunderstood rebel. Too bad this is a complete turn off for most people
