Adele Regrets Meeting And Working With Her Idol Damon Albarn

Adele is hot right now, she has a hot single and you can hear her everywhere, even on some college radios which should only play indie rock! Rolling Stone has a long article about her, which is much more than an interview, but she speaks about her collaboration with Damon Albarn, which actually didn’t go very well:

‘It ended up being one of those ‘don’t meet your idol’ moments,’ she declared. ‘And the saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up. But it was sad, and I regret hanging out with him.’

Ouch! But I like Adele precisely because of this, she is honest and more a kick-ass than a kiss-ass kind of gal, she tells it as it is. There will no song from this aborted collab on the new record and she had even more to say: ‘No! None of it was right. None of it suited my record. He said I was insecure, when I’m the least-insecure person I know. I was asking his opinion about my fears, about coming back with a child involved — because he has a child — and then he calls me insecure?’

The Blur frontman had effectively declared in an interview to the Sun: ‘Adele asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her. And I’m not a producer, so… I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. Let’s wait and see. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.’

It’s difficult to know what happened exactly but what’s wrong with being insecure? Albarn is wrong he should have never said this as if it was some sort flaw and Adele should never have been offended… people who are secure about their art are so boring and full of themselves. I can’t imagine what a Blur-Adele collaboration would have sounded like, but since I am not a fan of any of them why should I care?

I wonder what happened to her collaboration with Phil Collins? Last January he had announced he was working with her then he called her a ‘slippery little fish’ then I don’t know…. Collins has just announced he was coming back, he has children too so they could talk about this if this is what she really wants! Damn Adele, stop being so difficult! Stop upsetting the entire class of has-been English rockstars.
