10 Songs: Tuesday, April 12th, 2016

1 – Moon Crystal – M83 – I missed this on my new albums reviews (maybe I’ll catch the French electronic populists later), but this sounds like a scene in a movie where the guy and girl are walking hand in hand on the beach in the bright not moonshine – B

2 – Jaw On The Floor – September Girls – Yet again, it just isn’t nice sounding enough, even if the guitar break is excellent, a three note hook  – B

3 – Peace Of Mind – Peter Wolf – He really isn’t much of a lyricist, is he? Or does this just happen to really ruck? – C+

4 – Cosmic Explorer – Perfume – Heavy duty, big sounding, marathon in the world J-Pop, which doesn’t pay off. Sing the sucker, for fuck’s sake – C+

5 – Dust – Parquet Courts – Catchy little piece of weirdness about entropy (I think),  love the bass hook – B

6 – Reminds Me – Noonie Bao – Nice production work on the bridge saves a kinda strangely ordinary Robynish dance track cum confessional – C+

7 – Hyatt Girls – Moving Units – Sounds like emo rock to me, but it isn’t bad, the lead singer has a voice that keeps your interest – B-

8 – Cosmic Love – Mayer Hawthorne – Nice falsetto, kinda sorry I missed this album as well – B

9 – Same Sea – LIGHTS – Symphonic sounding big pop track goes indie -C+

10 – Johnny Blitz – La Boum Fatale – Seven minutes of beats and electronica finds its groove around five minutes in – B+
