1 – Places That Are Gone – Tommy Keene – This is the song that should have taken Tommy up a rung into that special place where superstars live, a jingle jangle song that listens like the blueprint of every song the Gin Blossoms every wrote. Bizarre, it didn’t happen – A+
2 – Bad Blood – Ryan Adams – I’ve tried to figure out why this doesn’t click, I think it is so solemn it doesn’t work, “it’s so sad to think about the good times….” becomes a manifesto – B-
3 – A Hard Day’s Night – Peter Sellers – Ryan reminds me of Seller’s version of the Beatles – A-
4 – It Never Rains In Southern California – Albert Hammond – His son should give this one a listen – A
5 – Losing Touch – Albert Hammond Jr – I am sure, actually no I’m not sure but, he is a fine fellow, but he can’t write a song – C
6 – Dancing Right In Front Of Me – David Gilmour – Love them harmonies, right? The middle eight with the harmonies underneath are so lovely it makes a crappy song a good one – B+
7 – A Boat Lies Waiting – David Gilmour – Memento Mori with more great harmonies and terrific harmonies – B+
8 – This Ain’t Just A Song – Alabama – A sweet little anthem, pays off nicely till a crappy chorus – C
9 – Shoegaze – ALabama Shakes – Soulful new wave and their poppiest achievement – A-
