maxresdefault

– I Got By In Time – The Jam – The second song off their first album, the trio were considered soft at the time,  but what it is is a speedy variant on the Who -like the Who without the r&b jones… or the drummer – A

– Saturday As Usual – Bright Eyes – A fifteen year old Conor is having a major breakdown in the bathroom, he doesn’t do that anymore – A

– Father – Demi Lovato – The new paradigm, interchangeable product songs with a coupla deep ringers added. This is the ringer, about her abusive father – C

– Perfect – One Direction – Their  answer to tay’s “I Knew You Were trouble” across a crowded room – B-

– Might Be – Anderson Paak – There is something not quite there about the entire album, close but not sticky enough – C+

– Tomorrow – Wings – They blow it at the coda, but till then it is pretty magical – A-

– Protector – Flying Lotus – Sounds like ambient shimmering blandness – C

– Gone – Benjamin Clementine – This guy’s voice  is all quirk and though the substance is in the fault lines, he gets old – B

– Piss On Your Grave – Travis Scott, Kanye West – Somewhat excellent pissedoffness form with a blues component that sounds like, er Cream actually – A

– Mama Told Me (Not to Come) – Three Dog Night – This moves well from speak thing verses to the chorus, they really sell it – A
