“Westerman’s songwriting takes in the tumult of a whirring mind and turns it into music that has the power to soothe modern anxieties, if not solve them”

– Pitchfork Rising

“unafraid to drag his alt-pop wizardry to imaginative new places.”

– Noisey

“manages to delicately balance melodic complexity and a variety of different instruments in a way that sounds not just easy, but effortless”

– DAZED

In anticipation of his forthcoming EP, Westerman shares a stunning new visual for his latest single “Outside Sublime.”

With a penchant for creating songs that explore and interrogate the nature of personal connection, Westerman’s new visual is a soothing, ethereal look at the fantasy world one escapes to when opening up to another person.

Director Beatrix Blaise shares about how the creative for the video came together, “When I first heard it I instantly imagined glistening watery scenes, fireflies and some sense of harmonious escape. Out of that came a kind of visceral world, where each thing in it was trying to mirror a human softness and duality.”

Ark EP was written in between a lot of traveling and recorded over an intense 3-day period with little sleep or contact with anyone. With minor re-drafting and editing the result is something looser than previous singles “Confirmation”, “Edison”, “Easy Money” and his debut EP Call and Response.

Fresh from a UK headlining tour including a buzzy sold-out date at London’s Oslo, Westerman recently played a string of shows in Paris for Pitchfork Avant-garde festival, Berlin, Amsterdam and Gent. Later this month he will head to the US for the first time to play debut shows in NYC and LA before returning to London for his largest headlining show to date on December 12th at The Jazz Café.

With backing from Pitchfork (Rising), Guardian, Stereogum, Highsnobiety, Noisey (Hit List), FADER, Gorilla vs Bear, and Interview Magazine, Ark EP sees the West Londoner make another huge stride to becoming one of this year’s breakout acts.

Ark EP is out this Friday on Blue Flowers. Watch “Outside Sublime” above now and find details on tour dates below.
