US Women’s Soccer Team: I did find the overindulgence of the opening Thailand won repugnant: not that they shouldn’t run up in goals in a game where the amount of goals is the difference in the case of a drawer, but all the posing and posturing is rude. But otherwise I have zero problem in the way Megan and crew handled themselves. Also, answering “I’m not going to the fucking White House” when asked, finds Megan doing the right thing. Most importantly, the US wasn’t behind for one second in all seven games. Complete mastery of the entire world…

Old Music: I have finally reached Curtis Mayfield’s Superfly, and it is better than I remembered. I can’t wait to review it.

New Music: Right now this minute, Rosalia’s Fucking Money, Man is blowing me away. The truck driver’s daughter satirical and pained take on finances is a huge leap forward for the Catalan (Catalonia is off Spain) native, and while it hasn’t bust through yet I can’t see “Millionaria” not doing so. The video was weak… maybe that is hurting…

Racism: Detroit’s Afropunk Fest charged white people double the price of people of color… essentially the definition of racism. They’ve changed their mind after being caught. Apparently, the clear concept that black’s need financial help to see their show went unnoticed:

EQUALITY MEANS TREATING EVERYONE THE SAME

EQUITY IS INSURING EVERYONE HAS WHAT THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

OUR TICKET STRUCTURE WAS BUILT TO INSURE THAT THE MOST MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES (PEOPLE OF COLOR) ARE PROVIDED WITH AN EQUITABLE CHANCE AT ENJOYING EVENTS IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITY (BLACK DETROIT).

AFFORDING JOY AND PLEASURE IS UNFORTUNATELY STILL A PRIVILEGE IN OUR SOCIETY FOR POC AND WE BELIEVE EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO RECEIVING SUCH.

WE’VE SEEN TOO MANY TIMES ORGASMIC EVENTS HAPPENING IN DETROIT AND OTHER POC POPULATED CITIES AND WHAT CONSISTENTLY HAPPENS IS PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE COMMUNITY BENEFITING MOST FROM AFFORDABLE TICKET PRICES BECAUSE OF THEIR PROXIMITY TO WEALTH.

THIS CYCLE DISPROPORTIONATELY DISPLACES BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE FROM ENJOYING ENTERTAINMENT IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES.

AS AN AFROFUTURIST YOUTH LEAD INITIATIVE THE VOICES OF OUR YOUTH INFORM OUR RESISTANCE.

HERE’S WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY

” IF YOU DON’T SEE MY BLACKNESS, YOU DON’T SEE ME. PERIODT!”

Television: as a sign of how little information you need to jump on a bandwagon, let’s hear it for “Stranger Things 3” -I caught the first two episodes of the first season and lost interest, then jumped to the third season and caught up before the first episode was over. Translation: a whole lotta padding (Grade: B-)

Movies: “Yesterday” was OK, not “Notting Hill” (the fame masterpiece) and not “Love, Actually” but it does the job (Grade: B), “Toy Story 4” was a real pity, philosophy for the pre-pubescent set ain’t my scene, man (Grade: C+). And “Spider-Man: Far From Home” was two parts sweet to one part insipid (Grade: B)

Trumpism: The question remains, what is the gain in being the biggest country in the world? What if it takes the soul away from the country in its wild pursuit… ? What if being the greatest kills it?

Racism: Public Image nailed it: what MAGA suffers from is fear of a black planet, it is as though they miss the greatest of miscegenation, of living in a world where the races are mixed and what is left is the greatest DNA cocktails with the most distance imaginable? So only the strongest genes meet -sort of the anti-Royal family?

The Rolling Stones On August 1st: don’t rain, don’t rain, don’t rain….
