a terrific week, every song here is excellent and “In Time” and “Girls From Texas” is so good I regret not bothering to catch Lyle at Lincoln Center last week. As for FKA twig? A flat out masterpiece that EP -I adore the woman. Herb Eimerman has a great EP about to drop, and I’ll review it soon) but this song with its terrific Byrdsy intro is beyond great.

Five song EP, recorded back to back with last years LP1, this bizarre and beautiful collection (along with a 17 minute video posted below) is the sound of heavy duty bass, a Massive Attack influence, with vocals that sometimes seem to be from a halfworld dreaminess and a come on “I’ll be there…. oooh” , and whose mood is of an unnerving sensuality and danger. Early Tricky maybe? Trip hop, yep. The video is the equal of the EP – RECORDING OF THE WEEK – A

Taylor Swift was spotted in Los Angeles at a Haim concert at the Troubadour on Thursday…. And she was holding hands with Calvin Harris… the world’s highest paid DJ with the world’s highest paid pop star, what a power couple! And both highly overrated! But we already know it won’t last for very long.

The difference between FKA Twigs album and D’Angelo’s is that she has songs that announce themselves and D’Angelo simply doesn’t. The debut album of the year and the sexiness thing around., it is a deep lovely different thing.; a modern day Bjork without the whimsy

FKA Twigs – Terminal 5 – December 8th, 2014 – A ferociously gifted yet oddly mutated soul girl raised on UK trip hop and MIA, gave a dazzling performance for the ages in support of her brilliant debut album and left us all in awe.

FKA Twigs is a great dancer so I think it is a fair bet that she will kill it on stage but even if she stands around like the Dum Dum girl, she still has the best (second best? definitely third) album of the year under her belt and the chance to see her perform em live, even at T5, Saturday night is not to be missed

She uses Google Glass to play “Video Girl” and then to learn the dance steps, and it twins her up and then quadruples her. The man is a stunning, dramatic figure of grace and it suggest (which is probably the reason for being) a certain gracefulness in the ungraceful Google Glass

I have checked many of the accounts which launched the racist harassment on twitter, and most of them have been suspended… excellent Twitter police! Now a lot of people are expecting Pattinson to make a move to defend her woman, but FKA Twigs seems to be doing just all right by herself

Tahliah Debrett Barnett aka Formerly Known As twigs, is the most exciting thing to happen to UK soundscape soul pop since Lana del Rey and like Lana she doesn’t sound like anything else: a deeply arranged indie soul hybrid. Imagine if Massive Attack had been so big 1D and a girl in Gloucestershire, England, became completely obsessed with them…something like that.

This was the week of FKA twigs debut album, which had the music critic world on its knees to the former dancer and current sound of desire as baffling tell off of sound and vision. This debut album, LP 1, is so strong they might as well just give her the Grammy for best new artist right now and have done with it.

Does FKAT sound like Sade or what? Maybe sounds is too strong a word, have a similar minimalist vibe. I wrote Tricky but it is more like Sade fronting Massive Attack, which might explain why she can be so out there and yet sound so pop.

A toss up between FKA Twigs and Sinead O’Conor and I am gonna go with FKA Twigs because my gut is by the time I get round to reviewing them, Sinead is gonna win. Having said that, the more I listen to FKAT the more mesmerized I am… Steve Aoki? Could be good.. The Gaslight Anthem? Not a chance in hell.

. Take Me To Church – Sinead O’Connor – Another in a long line of pretty good Sinead tracks, though the lyric is a little bit, Church rhymes with hurt (I know but I didn’t write it) which isn’t good at all apparently. I’ll give her this: her voice is in prettty good nick – B

Every year the BBC present the world with their picks of 2014’s breakthrough stars and every year they get one right and a couple rightish.
