Today, London-based pop futurist Rina Sawayama is sharing a new remix from Canadian musician and producer Ryan Hemsworth for her song “Cherry.”
The remix is a club-ready reimagining of Rina’s original track, infusing hip-hop snares and a diverse variety of instruments to reconstruct “Cherry” into a jam made for the dancefloor. Rina described her original single to Broadly as “definitely my most personal but political,” as she aims to provide the pansexual representation she sees as missing in music currently.
The remix arrives as Rina is wrapping up her Ordinary Superstar Fall Tour across North America and the UK. Rina commanded the stage on her sold-out tour as gracefully as ever, exuding her star power across the continent. She will conclude the series of shows with a night at London’s Heaven on October 19th.
The past 6 months has seen Rina team up with Shamir on her track “Tunnel Vision”, appear on the cover of Clash Magazine, perform with Charli XCX at her Pop 2 London show, film a Vogue Meetsfeature, team up with Nicola Formichetti and i-D for her “Ordinary Superstar” video and film an exclusive live performance of “Cherry” for Vevo DSCVR.
