The new single of Savages’ Jehnny Beth, and a web-series going with Shakey Graves’new EP among these press releases from May, without forgetting a series of pop songs.

Mïrändä – ‘I Am Art’: Aa pop voice over a hard-hitting Industrial synth-electro dancefloor drama, ‘I Am Art’ is Mïrändä’s culmination of her tarot-inspired singles trilogy. The track, which pulses with energy and passion was written ‘in a time of loneliness and pain,’ like ‘an incantation offering hope and inspiration,’ ‘a reclamation of power and its transformation into something beautiful.’ The song comes with a video.

Baby Plug – ‘Topic’: The song starts with an unusual buoyant exotic background for Baby Plug’s unstoppable and inimitable flow over a melodic style of guitar echoes and off-kilter beats. This is the new mixtape of ‘Atlanta’s next breakout star’ and it comes with a video that you can watch HERE.

O.T. Genasis – ‘I Look Good’: A playful and catchy hip hop song on a sunny loop by multi-platinum artist and viral internet favorite O.T. Genasis. Described as an ode to self-confidence and affirmation in the midst of  COVID-19 quarantine, the new single is O.T.’s official return since 2019, and it also comes with a funny video.

Hey, Chels – ‘You’ve Got You Now’: A sweet indie-pop song with big hooks, triumphant instrumentation, and Stephanie Presz’ great vocals, in a Titus-Andronicus-meets-Beach-House kind of way. The San Diego band has released their debut full-length ‘Everything Goes’ and they are generously giving it away for FREE on Bandcamp. Meanwhile, you can watch the video for the song.

Hennessey – ‘Let’s Pretend (It’s the 80’s): A fun song with a sort of B-52s vibe, but a weird dance track which celebrates our obsession with NYC in the 80s, the culture of decadence, consumerism, and individualism. Hennessey is an NYC-based band fronted by songstress Leah Hennessey who screams the mantra ‘let’s love like we love money’ in the chorus. The song is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming self-titled EP out this summer on Velvet Elk Records.

Eden Iris – ‘Blue Home’: A rainforest electro soundscape warmed up by Eden Iris’ smooth vocals. The New Zealand-native-Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has created an evocative and atmospheric song which she calls ‘a letter of longing, at a time where I was trying to hold onto hope.’ ‘It was a cathartic but intense song to write. I started out playing it at open mics and it has been a part of my set-list ever since. It is probably one of the most honest songs I have ever written,’ she adds. ‘Blue Home’ is one of several singles that will be on her forthcoming album, due summer-fall 2020.

Jhené Aiko – ‘Lotus Intro’: A melancholic soulful Billie Holiday vibe with a more saccharine and breathy R&B (and unfortunately altered) vocals. This is the opening track of ‘Chilombo’, the new album by the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, who has been featured on the work of A-listers such as Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Big Sean, Logic, J. Cole, Drake, and many more.  And it comes with visuals.

Shakey Graves – ‘Look Alive’: After a crescendo start, the song settles down into a gentle tempo with pop harmonies and a sort of McCartney vibe. ‘Look Alive,’ with its tangled guitars and melancholia, plunges into darkness before re-emerging before ending. It is the title track of Shakey Graves’ new EP, which coincides with the release of a web series, ‘Hello Gorgeous,’ a three-part documentary-music video project produced by Shakey Graves frontman and bandleader Alejandro Rose-Garcia in association with Onion Creek Productions. Episode 1, ‘Look Alive,’ can be viewed HERE. Episode 2, ‘The Recipe,’ can be viewed HERE. The finale, Episode 3 ‘Under the Hood,’ can be viewed/shared HERE.

Jehnny Beth – ‘Heroine’: Channeling the post-punk era heroines, the new single, produced by acclaimed producer Flood, resonates like a feminist anthem sung by the charismatic lead singer of the UK band Savages. The song with its dark cinematic shades comes from Jehnny Beth’s forthcoming album, ‘To Love Is To Live,’ featuring The xx’s Romy Madley Croft, actor Cillian Murphy, and IDLES’ Joe Talbot. It will be released on June 12.

Casey Conroy, COASTCITY – ‘Best Shoes’: A boy-girl harmonious duo and a bilingual remix of singer-songwriter Casey Conroy’s song, ‘Best Shoes,’ featuring two-times-Grammy-nominated artist-production duo COASTCITY. Casey’s delicate and emotional vocals shine during this conversation-like song while Caribbean-soul duo COASTCITY transformed the track by infusing Spanglish lyrics and a soulful live organ.
