I want to get a ticket for this event so badly! But honestly there’s gonna be a lot of concurrence. Bruce Springsteen is releasing a new book ‘Born to Run’ with a companion album, but the big surprise was announced on Monday: The Boss himself will be making several special appearances this September & October to celebrate the release of the memoir…. and there is a date in Los Angeles at Barnes & Noble at the Grove!

That would certainly be extremely cool to meet Bruce, but let’s curb our enthusiasm a tiny bit! First, it will be über-super-maxi crowded and so, near impossible to get near the place unless you have slept for three days in front of the store. I know, I have seen Paul McCartney at Amoeba and the ‘old’ generation is ready to do that. Then, according to A.V. Club, the books will come pre-signed, meaning you will not be able to make Springsteen sign your precious copy while chatting with him for half a minute, and while the store employee repeats to you five times that your time is over – I have done this with Nick Cave and it was awesome. Not such chance this time and so I wonder why he is bothering to come. Will he sing a song? Will he greet and meet a few fans nevertheless? Will he be talking about his writing experience? And will his appearances last as long as his concerts? I hadn’t any answer, I couldn’t even find any info on how to get a ticket, and just knew that the book is available everywhere on September 27th… However, how many will be available at each location had remained a mystery… so I did a bit of searching on Twitter and found this for the LA event:

‘Customers who purchase a pre-signed copy of ‘Born to Run’ from Barnes & Noble at the Grove will receive a wristband that will allow them to attend this event. Barnes & Noble will begin selling the book and distributing wristbands Monday October 3th at 9 am on a first come first serve basis.

– Limit 1 wristband per book/per person

– We will be limited to 1200 books for this event

– All books will be presigned

– Wristbanded guest will meet and be able to have a picture taken with Bruce Springsteen

– Please check back for more details as they become available

Details on how to attend each event will probably be very similar, although certain locations are selling tickets in advance. But since October 3rd is a Monday, I won’t be able to make it! Damn all these retired people!
