Marilyn Manson About This Lana Del Rey Video: 'She Was Being Such A Problem’
Remember about the clip with Marilyn Manson, Lana del Rey and Eli Roth, that mysteriously surfaced on the web? Of course you remember because there was a rape scene involving Roth and Del Rey, who, by the way, was wearing a Texas Chainsaw Massacre t-shirt while Manson was playing a sniper at the top of a roof… a sort of Bret Easton Ellis’ wet dream, and I am saying this because I am listening to his podcast and during the episode featuring Manson, he mentioned a dinner with these two… can you imagine the conversation? But I digress, what was exactly this clip, an aborted movie? A failed video?
According to NME, Manson has just spoken about it, he explained to the magazine that it wasn’t his, and that the rape scene was filmed separately and ‘later edited by someone not affiliated with Manson to look like it was part of the same clip.’
‘It wasn’t a Marilyn Manson video,’ he said to NME. ‘The editor of the company that put it out was somebody who’s edited my videos, that video was something that was done with a camera that Eli (Roth – director), who’s my friend, and I both wanted to test out, so I let him test it out […] what they filmed was put in context seemingly as if it were a Marilyn Manson video, and that was in no way the intention.’
But the rumor that the trio had a common project was actually true:
‘Eli and I wanted to do a music video with her but she was being such a problem,’ he added. ‘Although I still respect her, I’m friends with her. I just left, I was tired, I was not willing to make that part of the video. Eli and I originally had intentions of making a video with her, but that is not the intention that is represented in that film clip because that is not what I filmed, not for my video.’
She was being such a problem’? Come on people, Marilyn and whoever interviewed him, we want to know more! More juicy gossip! Anyway, I have always had the feeling that Lana may be a bit on the diva side.
‘But the people put it together with my other clips,’ continued Manson, ‘And it really strongly stands out of place, it doesn’t really make sense. I would not make a video of that nature, nor would Eli. I don’t think either of us were ever intending for that to be seen, it was more of a camera test. I’m a person that would beat somebody’s ass if they raped somebody that I know.’
And this is the strangest part of all the interview, a rape scene as a camera test? Are you kidding me? Then the next sentence doesn’t make sense at all,… I mean, this wasn’t a real rape right? Let’s check it again:
