Robyn isn’t a contender for best EDM singer songwriter pop star with a feel for the complexities of both romance and beat, the Swedish master is the gold standard and we haven’t heard had a new album since, oh my goodness, 2010. So news of a sighting, even if, it is a q and a, as this Monday’s Red Bull Music presents A Conversation with Robyn at the Museum Of Modern Art, it is still tidings of great joy and heartily recommended.

Monday – Graham Parker – City Winery – I don’t much like Parker’s new material and the last time I saw him, at Joe’s Pub, I felt he was a little indifferent. Even so, cmon, this is the man who wrote “No Holding Back”.

Wednesday – Flatbush ZOMBiES, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution – Terminal 5 –  Pro Era stalwarts

Thursday – Justin Townes Earle, Lilly Hiatt – MHOW –  Call it the scion of Americana’s first league, Justin you know, Lily is John’s daughter. For the record, Justin is a little drab on stage but he is one of the best songwriters around.

Thursday – Tomorrow is a Long Time: Songs from Bob Dylan’s 1963 Town Hall Concert – Town Hall – At first it seems like it is folk star Dylan and it is, but a “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright”  towards the end suggests there is another side ready to peek through the harp and scruffed out youthfulness. I am not sure if this Town Hall presentation has much to add to the conversation, the line up is interesting without being fascinating. Yes, Peter Wolf but the real question is:  what will Laurie Anderson be performing?

Thursday – Rostam, Joy Again, Instupendo – Brooklyn Steel – We haven’t heard the new Vampire Weekend yet but without Rostam it seems bound to disappoint, as does Rostam without Ezra. The truth is that both are diminished. And even so, Rostam is a great musical composer.

Saturday – John Fogerty / ZZ Top: Blues And Bayous Tour – PNC Banks Art Center – This is a pretty excellent mix and match and if it was in the city I would go for sure.

Sunday – Chronixx – Ford Theatre At Coney Island – The chosen one till Buju reclaims his Rastaman crown.
