Jim Jones’ current album, released on the last day of May, is getting a belated release party at the Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday. I caught Cam’ron a couple of weeks ago performing an excellent, way too short set. I would love to see one of the most bloody minded rappers in the world, the Harlem badass brings along a fistful of up-and-comers to join him.

Monday – Bettye Lavette – City Winery – If all Betty did was cover Bob Dylan she would still be worth seeing.

Tuesday – Sad Summer Festival – Rooftop At Pier 17 – Mayday Parade headline.

Tuesday – David Allan Coe – Sony Hall

Tuesday – Jeff Lynne’s ELO With Dhani Harrison – Prudential Center – I wasn’t thrilled last year at MSG, as always Jeff is a highly stoical figure… but even so, what a catalog.

Wednesday – Smooth Cruise: The Stylistics – Spirit Of New York Cruise Ship – Betcha by golly wow this is worth your time.

Wednesday – Aimee Mann – MHOW – It’s been nearly twenty years since Bachelor # 2 -maybe she will tour behind it.

Wednesday, Thursday – Carly Rae Jepsen: THE DEDICATION TOUR-  Hammerstein Ballroom

Wednesday – YUNA: The Rouge Tour – Sony Hall – The Malaysian stars new album is very strong neo-r&b soul

Wednesday, Thursday – Lionel Richie – Radio City Music Hall

Wednesday – Okkervil River – City Winery

Thursday – The Liza Colby Sound – The Bowery Electric – Haven’t seen em in a coupla years but always a fine, hard rocking soul sound

Thursday – Black Midi – Bowery Ballroom – Hot new UK prog rockers

Friday – Robyn – Barclay Center – Terrific earlier this year at MSG (here), this is a worse venue but a better opening act in ESG.

Friday – Frankie Valli And The Four Season – Ford Amphitheatre

Friday – Elle Varner – Sony Hall

Friday – Jennifer Lopez – Prudential Center

Friday – The Mekons – MHOW – I begged Sally Timms for a Bowery Ballroom gig…

Saturday – Weird Al Yankovic – Forest Hills Stadium – The latest in a long list of things we don’t: Weird Al with a full orchestra.

Saturday – War – Sony Hall

Sunday – Sam Huber And The True Groove Allstars – Featuring Khalil Kain and Regina Bonelli

Sunday – Conor Oberst – White Eagle Hall – It’s been over a decade (since his eponymous solo album) of mediocrity… but mediocre Conor? I aint hating, exactly.
