No, don’t rush looking for tickets to Cher in New York, I am taking a short winter sabbatical (if you can call three days a sabbatical) and visiting Las Vegas for a long weekend. Specifically to catch Cher at the Park Theatre at the Monte Carlo Hotel. I’ve seen her before and always thoroughly enjoyed her. Here is Robin Leach in the Las Vegas Review-Journal: ” Fabulous fashions. You got it! Glamor and glitz. You got it! Hit singles and disco blockbusters. You got it! A mechanical elephant. You got it! A silver-sequined gondola that “sails” from one side of the stage to the other. You got it! And spinning, overhead trapeze acrobatics. You got it!”. I’ll be there Saturday.

Wednesday – Red Hot Chili Peppers, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue – Madison Square Garden – Sure, RHCP are terrible but they aren’t Limp Bizkit terrible, they are just constantly misjudging their talents. And they have “Give It Away”, “This Is The Place”,  and “Californication” in their catalog, two of which they’ve been performing on this tour. Try and miss the opening act if you can.

Thursday – The Apollo Theatre – Ryan Adams – The best album of the year (so far) , Prisoner, will finally be released on Friday and so here is one complaint: why is he performing at 9pm? Of course, there isn’t a chance in hell of us missing it, now is there? Ryan could be perform the entire album from one end to another and I would still be overjoyed.

Friday – Jennifer Lopez – The Axis At Planet Hollywood – I saw JLo maybe 20 years ago lup synching her way through a Jingle Ball gig. I was shocked then, today not so much.

Friday – Gregory Porter’s Annual Valentine’s Concert – Town Hall – A major vocalist, swoon jazz and soul master.

Sunday – Elton John – The Colosseum At  Caesars Planet – He has sucked the last coupla times I’ve seen him, but this is really, and in fact, mostly hits so we can put hope.
