Singer-songwriter Julia Othmer will bring the sweeping, cinematic sounds of her new album, Sound, to Rockwood Music Hall in New York City on Oct. 22.
Othmer’s music has an ethereal yet upbeat quality that captures the imagination. Her vocals bring to mind the work of Adele and Annie Lennox. Othmer’s songwriting allows the listener to escape to a fantastic world that she creates with her work. One of the outstanding tracks on the new album, Sound, is “Hungry Days.”
Othmer has performed alongside icons Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris, and Heart. She has also shared the stage with Amanda Palmer, Minnie Driver, Regina Spektor, Amos Lee, and John Waite, among others.
“I get to write and play songs because people come out to concerts and support live music,” Othmer said. “I don’t take that for granted.”
Othmer created the album with producer, multi-instrumentalist and co-writer James T. Lundie.
“We worked hard on the album,” Othmer said. “Now it’s time to celebrate. No better way to do that than playing music.”
