Echo Park Rising, one of my favorite music festivals of the summer, will be happening once again next month, taking over many venues and many stages all over Echo Park from August 16th to 19th… Four days of extravaganza with too many acts to list and an overwhelming list of local artists. If most of the lineup will be announced a bit later, we already know that two badass women, TT (Theresa Wayman of Warpaint) and Shannon Shaw of Shannon and The Clams will be headlining the Liberty stage.

Other announced acts include synthpunk Fartbarf, better strange pop band James Supercave, outlaw rocker Charlie Overbey & the Broken Arrows, emotional pop siren Miya Folick, synth punk singer Numb.Er, nu soul artist  Harriet Brown, as well as YeekWarm DragPoppy Jean CrawfordCurrent Joys, and the space age tropicalia from Healing Gems. There will also be a Latinx Friday night at The Echo with Eduardo Arenas from Chicano Batman, LA Qoolside and Tropa Magica.

This is only the tip of the giant iceberg which has now become EPR, as the 4-day festival will include the outdoor Liberty stage in front of Taix restaurant, the Taix Champagne Room curated by SESAC and Buzzbandsla, Grand Ole Echo’s country and americana at Cosmic Vinyl and the Echo patio, the outdoor Laveta Stage, as well as many other stages including The Short Stop programmed by Green Slime (raw rock n roll, rockabilly garage music), The Semi-Tropic programmed by What The Sound (indie rock and up-and-coming artists), Trencher programmed by All Scene Eye, Thai restaurant Sticky Rice (with an all acoustic stage), plus hot yoga haven Modo Yoga LARock Paper Salon, Blank City Records, and it goes on and on…

Brace yourself, it’s gonna be a wild ride.
